Editorial Policy
This page explains how editorial decisions get made here, who is allowed to influence them, and what happens when we get something wrong. It applies to everything we publish.
Editorial independence
No one buys coverage on this site. Not advertisers, not suppliers, not partners, not commercial clients.
Concretely, that means:
– Advertisers cannot see articles before publication, cannot request changes, and cannot have unfavorable content removed. Ad placement is handled by third-party networks and is unrelated to editorial decisions.
– Our commercial clients receive no preferential treatment in editorial content. Their names, products, and countries get the same scrutiny as anyone else’s.
– We do not publish sponsored articles, paid guest posts, paid link insertions, or “partner content”
without explicit, prominent labeling.
Accuracy and sources
Accuracy isn’t just about not having typos. It’s about not being misleading.
– We don’t just state “where a product comes from.” We tell you what that claim is based on.
– We distinguish clearly between facts we’ve verified (see our [Methodology]) and claims made by producers.
– We include “last updated” dates on all research-heavy pages. If a page was last touched three years ago, it isn’t current.
– We use direct sources wherever possible. If we cite a study, we link to the study. If we cite a price, we say where and when it was gathered.
AI Policy (Disclosure)
We use AI tools the way we use spreadsheets or word processors: as tools to speed up specific tasks, not to replace research or thinking.
– Research: We do our own. We do not use AI to generate “facts” or source citations.
– Writing: No article is published without human drafting, structural review, and fact-checking. AI may be used for brainstorming, outlining, or helping with grammar and phrasing.
– Accuracy: The humans listed on our [About page] are legally and editorially responsible for every word on the site, regardless of which tools were used to write it.
Product reviews and rankings
When we compare products or brands, we do it based on publicly available data, third-party lab results, or recognized industry standards. We do not accept free samples in exchange for reviews. If we ever review a product we didn’t buy ourselves, that fact will be disclosed at the top of the article.
Rankings on this site are the opinion of our editorial team based on our published methodology. They are never “pay to play.”
Corrections
Our credibility is based on being right. When we aren’t, we fix it as fast as possible.
– Minor errors (typos, broken links) are fixed as soon as they are found.
– Material errors (wrong price data, incorrect origin claims, outdated standards) are corrected and a note is added to the page explaining what was changed and when.
– Reader corrections: We investigate every correction submitted by a reader. If you have a correction, please [contact us]. Include sources where possible.
Conflicts of interest
Editorial staff must disclose any financial interest in a company or industry they are covering. If a conflict exists, that person is removed from writing or editing that specific piece of content.
